There is good news at last for embattled Brisbane Roar after the A-League club signed betting company Ladbrokes as their front-of-shirt sponsor for their glamour clash with Liverpool.
The once-off deal will see Ladbrokes replace long-time major sponsors The Coffee Club on the front of Brisbane's jersey when they face the English Premier League club on July 17 at Suncorp Stadium.
The announcement comes after The Coffee Club - part-owned by former Roar shareholders Emmanuel Drivas and Emmanuel Kokoris - on Wednesday announced they would not be renewing their sponsorship.
The Coffee Club had been commercial partners with the Roar for eight years and the deal was reportedly worth $650,000 per year to the club.
Ladbrokes were previous Brisbane sponsors and that the company has chosen to up their involvement with the cash-strapped club is an encouraging development after a tumultuous few days.
Players were paid their monthly wages three weeks late this week and Football Federation Australia will be forced to move against owners The Bakrie Group should it happen again.
