A late winner was enough for the Roar to secure another premiers plate defeating the Melbourne Victory 1-0. The match was heading for a goalless draw before a late stunner produced the three points for the home side.
Tactically, it was a great viewing game for the neutral with the Roar trying to break down a very stubborn Melbourne side who looked very compact without the threat of Berisha attacking them. Both midfields had solid performances with a potential match-up brewing for the upcoming finals.
Although the premiers plate is a mark of the most consistent team in the regular season, I believe it means a whole lot more to the front office than the players. Teams play this wonderful game to be alive on the final Sunday of the season and again that will be the aim for the Roar.
These next few weeks will serve as a tune-up for the Roar with one eye closely glued to the remaining playoff spots.
